Jacko

I'm admitting my age today. People just a few years older or younger won't get this. They'll think I'm a freak. But I'm just going to out with this.

I have finally gotten all my favorite tracks of Michael Jackson on iTunes and now I have the sweetest playlist of the best tunes. From "Rockin' Robin" to "Rock With You," from "Blame It On The Boogie" to "Beat It" to "Black or White," whether he's Off The Wall, a Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, or Invincible, I cannot get enough of this music.

I know what you're thinking: no way. He's a freak, Heather. Haven't you seen the pictures? Heard the interviews? Know that news? He names his children weird names and, did you notice, he's so completely eerie and bizarre?

Right, I know. But I love the music. I've been a closet Michael Jackson fan ever since Bad. I'm not joking. Hey, it didn't take anything to say you liked Michael Jackson during the Thriller-era. Thriller was easy to love -- everyone loved it. It even sold Pepsi. Sometimes post-GenXers try to impress me by saying they remember "Billie Jean" from their earliest days in diapers. It was a great video, they say. Yeah? Don't even start with me. I remember Michael Jackson from before there were music videos. Get it? But more importantly, if you still liked Michael Jackson after his Black-or-White-car-smashing-dance was parodied on In Living Color, you had guts. If you not only liked him but you also told people you still liked him post-Thriller (I didn't), you were asking to be ridiculed.

I know, people older than me will say that Michael Jackson doesn't even come close to greats like the Beatles. Well, I like the Beatles very much too and I have all their recordings. And I ask the reader to recall, Paul McCartney plays an important role in the story of the King of Pop, no? People younger than me will say that I'm crazy. But I believe that's because they never really understood the whole phenomenon that was Jacko in the first place.

So, here I am on my semi-anonymous blog admitting that I really really like Michael Jackson's music.

"Hi, I'm Heather, and I love Michael Jackson's music."
"Hi, Heather."
